Same scale, from the model wind
What this is. Single-site mode shows the Bureau of Meteorology's own 128 km reflectivity frames for the selected radar, issued every five minutes. Your phone fetches the frames from BOM directly, so they show in BOM's own fifteen rainfall-rate colours (light to extreme, in mm/h); the scale under the map is BOM's. BOM's image is a rainfall composite rather than the raw 0.5° sweep RadarScope draws, so the faint sea and ground clutter you see in RadarScope is not here, while the storms are. Composite mode is RainViewer's national mosaic at ten minutes. Echo tracking is computed here by matching consecutive composite frames; steering is NOAA GFS via Open-Meteo.
It is not a warning service. A BOM severe thunderstorm warning overrides anything on this screen. Radar imagery © Bureau of Meteorology; composite ©
